Birdfair – the UK’s biggest wildlife festival
16, 17, 18 August
Join us for a three-day celebration of birds and wildlife 16, 17 and 18 August. Dubbed the bird-lovers’ Glastonbury, Birdfair is fantastic mix of over 180 talks, events and workshops with something for everyone.
The RSPB at Birdfair
Birdfair is a great opportunity to discover more about RSPB. Visit our stand and find out about our work on tropical forests, our investigations into wildlife crime, and to hear more about the many ways we are working to save nature and how you can get involved.
New this year, we’re running a careers clinic for people looking to work in conservation. And there’ll also be hands-on fun for children down at the Wild Zone with plenty of activities including bug-hunting to pond dipping.
Discounted tickets for RSPB members
Enjoy all this for less! RSPB members are eligible for a discounted ticket on Sunday 18 August - buy in advance and a standard ticket is £11.50 instead of £13.50.
Remember children (under 18) go free every day – but they will need a ticket.
Something for everyone
There’s plenty to enjoy and be inspired by at Birdfair, whether you’re an experienced birder, keen amateur, just starting out or coming along with your family.
Join us and celebrate the Bird Photographer of the Year awards with Chris Packham, pit your wits against the experts in Stephen Moss’s Bird Brain of Britain quiz or delight in the natural world with experts including Iolo Williams and Mary Colwell!

Saving nature through Birdfair
Each year Birdfair raises vital funds for conservation. Birdfair 2019 will fundraise for BirdLife International’s “Conserving Cambodia's Big Five”, benefiting giant ibises, white-shouldered ibises, white-rumped vultures, slender-billed vultures, and red-headed vultures – all of which are in decline. This is through BirdLife International, for which the RSPB is the UK partner.
Birdfair is jointly promoted by the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust and the RSPB.
RSPB Birders' lecture
Friday 16 August, 6-7pm
Talk by international expert Professor Per Alström - Identification of Eastern vagrants to Britain
Join Professor Alström as he gets to grips with some of the trickier species that sometimes land on our shores. His lecture will draw upon first-hand experience of observing, photographing, ringing and sound recording a staggering array of eastern gems.
