Join our Early Bird Challenge

Be an Early Bird this April by walking or running 73km and raising vital funds to protect 73 endangered UK bird species. All while basking in birdsong and spring skies.

73 UK bird species are under threat

We’re now at risk of losing 73 bird species in the UK. Birds like Puffins, who are struggling to feed their young and avoid entanglement in off-coast fishing lines. Birds like summer-hailing Swifts that fly 7,000 miles only to find themselves without a safe spot to nest. Birds like Curlews, Cuckoos and House Sparrows.

You can help endangered birds overcome the challenges to their survival. How? By taking on a challenge of your own this spring…

Rise to our new Early Bird Challenge and raise funds for the RSPB

This spring, we’re challenging you to get outside early, discover nature on your doorstep and walk or run a sponsored 73km for our 73 most endangered birds.

No more gloomy news stories first thing. No more screen time over your morning coffee. Get out early and take on 73km over 30 mornings. Break the distance down into 2.5km every day or wing it with a mix of round-the-block strolls and longer weekend outings. Get a loved one to join you, make your daily dog walks part of your challenge or tackle it solo, finding all the company you need in the birds and trees.

Get sponsored before your first step outside

To set yourself up for an unbeatable Early Bird Challenge, ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. With every early start, every pound you raise and every kilometre you walk or run, you’ll help protect the UK’s most threatened birds.

The UK’s endangered birds need help. Will you answer their call?

By raising vital funds with the Early Bird Challenge, you’ll help maintain coastal reserves and give little Pufflings the chance to take their first flappy flights. You’ll help protect Curlew eggs from invasive predators. You’ll help give Swifts a safe haven after their continent-crossing flights each summer.
