Back in 1889, women outraged at the killing of birds for fashion came together and started a campaign. That campaign – spearheaded by Etta Lemon, Eliza Phillips and Emily Williamson – ultimately led to the formation of the RSPB.
More than a century later, we’re still bringing people together to stand up for nature.
Alongside our supporters, we've helped win restrictions on bee-killing pesticides, secured new protections against toxic lead ammunition, and protected vital feeding grounds for seabirds by pushing for the closure of industrial sandeel fisheries in the English North Sea and Scottish waters.
These wins were only possible because thousands of people signed petitions, contacted decision-makers and stood up for wildlife.
Because protecting nature isn't about one person doing everything.
It's about all of us doing something.
