The BBC TV series Wild Isles shone a light on UK wildlife like never before. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough and co-produced by the RSPB, WWF-UK and the Open University, the series delighted audiences, reaching more than 10 million viewers.
Enter our Wild Isles competition and two lucky winners will each win two tickets to Wild Isles Live in Concert at the Barbican in London on 18 January 2025. Ten runners-up with receive a copy of Wild Isles by Patrick Barkham and Alastair Fothergill.
Wild Isles Live in Concert
Enjoy highlights from the TV series with live orchestral music from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted and presented by the series’ composer George Fenton. With a cinema-size screen showing footage from Wild Isles, expect breath-taking images, immersive music and an extraordinary experience!

RSPB Wild Isles photo competition Terms and Conditions
By submitting an entry, you agree to be legally bound by the Terms and Conditions of the competition.
Where referred to in these Terms and Conditions, RSPB, “we” or “us” means THE ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF BIRDS, a registered charity in England and Wales, number 207076 and in Scotland, number SC037654, whose registered office is at The Lodge, Sandy, Bedfordshire, SG19 2DL, together with RSPB SALES LTD, the wholly owned trading subsidiary of the RSPB, whose registered company number 2693778, and whose registered office at The Lodge, Sandy, Bedfordshire, SG19 2DL.
The competition is open to UK residents only (including residents of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). RSPB employees are excluded from the competition. RSPB volunteers may, however, apply.

Entrants under the age of 18 years, and vulnerable adults, need to have the consent of a parent or guardian to enter. Parents/guardians are required to complete a competition consent form and send it with the entry. By doing so, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions on behalf of the entrant. In particular, see below with regard to the RSPB’s Privacy Policy, announcement of winners and handling of personal data.

In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. The RSPB may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.

The competition is free to enter, and no purchase is necessary.

Photographs entered must be taken in the UK, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

Photographs of domestic animals (ie. pets or farm animals), zoo animals and cultivated plants are not eligible.

Images of British wildlife in captivity are also not eligible.

Entrants can submit up to two photos in total in colour or black and white. There is no guarantee that photos will be returned.

Entrants must include their name and email address. When emailing the image please save the file using your full name.

The competition opens on Saturday 7 December 2024 and closes at midnight on Saturday 14 December 2024. Entries received after this date and time will not be considered. Any entry that is late, incomplete or inappropriate will be deemed invalid at the discretion of the RSPB.

The RSPB accepts no responsibility for any technical failure, or malfunction of any other kind, which may result in any entry being lost, corrupted, not properly recorded or delayed.

The RSPB accepts no responsibility for entries which are lost or corrupted during upload.

The judges shall be appointed by the RSPB, being persons whom the RSPB considers to be independent and suitably qualified and/or experienced. The judges shall assess the entries and 12 winners will be selected. Two top prizes will be awarded to the two top entries. The judges’ decisions shall be final. Unsuccessful entrants will not be contacted and no feedback on any entries will be provided.

Winners will be required to submit original high-resolution digital files. These files should be of sufficient quality to reproduce to the following specifications: at 300dpi, landscape – 3800 x 2000 pixels, portrait – 2200 x 3600 pixels.

This competition is open to amateur photographers only. For the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs.

The RSPB and its judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe may have been excessively treated so as to alter its authenticity.
By submitting an entry, you agree to waive any moral rights contained in your entry. Any entry you provide shall be non-confidential.

By submitting an entry, you agree the RSPB may use the material in any way it chooses, including, but not limited to in communications, marketing, publicity and advertising, including on social media, in connection to the Wild Isles photo competition at any time now or in the future. We may also wish to use your photograph for wider general publicity purposes for the RSPB, however any such further use shall be subject to your prior consent.

Any contribution must be your own original work, it must not infringe the rights of third parties including copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights.

If your contribution features other people who are recognisable, you are responsible for ensuring that you have their express permission for the contribution to be treated according to the uses set out in these Terms and Conditions.

The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

Winners will be sent notification of their success by email within 30 days of the closing date. They must respond within five days (from the notification from the RSPB that they have been selected) with any information reasonably requested, along with a completed and signed copy of the RSPB’s competition photo consent form. All entrants should ensure, before entering the competition, that they will be happy to complete and sign the RSPB’s competition photo consent form. If they have not responded with any requested information and a completed form within five days, they will forfeit their prize and another winner will be selected from other entrants.
Within 30 days of the RSPB’s receipt of any required information and the competition photo consent form, the winners will be sent one of the prizes below:
Top two prizes: Each winner will receive two tickets to Wild Isles Live in Concert at the Barbican, London, on Saturday 18 January 2025. Any other costs incurred in addition to the prize, including travel or accommodations expenses, are the responsibility of the winner(s).
10 runners up: A copy of Wild Isles by Patrick Barkham and Alastair Fothergill.
Prizes are as stated above and therefore they are not transferable and there are no alternative prizes or cash substitutes. The sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event that the selected prize is unavailable for any reason whatsoever.

The RSPB is required to either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the winners’ names will be published on the RSPB website. If you object to any or all of your surname and winning entry being published or made available, please contact NotesonNature@rspb.org.uk. In such circumstances, the RSPB must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.

The RSPB reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if necessary.

The RSPB and/or the judges reserve the right to refuse entry or to refuse to award a prize to anyone in breach of these Terms and Conditions or the spirit of them.

Publication of your contribution will be at the RSPB’s sole discretion.

We will try to credit photographers where possible, but may not always do so.

Save as expressly provided for in these terms and as required by law, neither the RSPB nor its trading subsidiary(ies) shall be liable for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage or for any costs, claims or demands of any nature whatsoever arising directly or indirectly out of the use of your contribution or any part thereof.

From time to time, the RSPB may run competitions, free prize draws and promotions in connection with its conservation work. In each case these may be subject to additional or different competition terms which will be made available at the appropriate time.

Insofar as is permitted by law, the RSPB (including its subsidiaries, agents or distributors) will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize, except where it is caused by the negligence of the RSPB, its subsidiaries, agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

You agree to indemnify the RSPB (and its subsidiaries) against any claim from any third party for any infringement of intellectual property rights or for any breach of these Terms and Conditions.

The RSPB reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time and any updated version will be effective as soon as it is published on the website.

The RSPB takes your privacy very seriously; we will only use your personal information in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and the RSPB’s Privacy Policy. By submitting an entry, you confirm that you have read and agree to the terms of our Privacy Policy (rspb.org.uk/help/privacy). Please also see above with regard to the announcement of winners.
Any personal data submitted will be held securely and in accordance with all applicable Data Protection Law. Personal data supplied will only be used to process your entry and to keep you updated about the competition. Your personal data may be passed on to third party suppliers only insofar as required for fulfilment/delivery/arrangement of the prize. Once the winning images are selected, the personal data of all entrants (bar the final twelve) are permanently deleted. The personal data of the twelve winners is held on file for a minimum of 12 months from the date of the competition closing. Some personal data may be retained for longer than 12 months where required, and this may include completed consent forms.

The RSPB reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.

This competition is governed by English law and English Courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
