Nature is part of what makes Wales special. But with wildlife in decline and crucial decisions about future funding approaching, now is the time to speak up for the nature we love.

Imagine a Wales where Swifts swoop and screech over our rooftops, Puffins thrive along our coastline, and our rivers, woodlands and countryside are full of life.
A Wales where farmers are supported to work alongside nature, our most threatened species are recovering, and wildlife flourishes in every community.
This future is within reach. But only if we invest in nature.
With the Welsh Government preparing its next budget, we have an important opportunity to make sure nature gets the investment it desperately needs. And we need your help to make that happen.
Wales is home to some incredible wildlife and wild places, but nature is in trouble.
The State of Nature Wales 2023 report revealed that Welsh wildlife has declined by an average of 20% since 1994, with one in six species assessed at risk of extinction from Wales.
From the once familiar calls of Curlews to the Swifts that brighten our summer skies, some of our best-loved birds are disappearing. Swift populations have fallen by 76% since 1995, while Curlews are at risk of being lost as a breeding bird in Wales.
But this isn't just about wildlife. Nature provides the foundations for our everyday lives, from the clean air we breathe and the water we drink to healthy soils that produce our food.
Healthy habitats also help protect communities from flooding, store carbon and make our landscapes more resilient to climate change.
When nature thrives, we all benefit.
The good news is that we know how to help nature recover.
Across Wales, farmers, communities, conservation organisations and businesses are already working together to restore habitats, protect threatened species and create space for wildlife to flourish.
But to make a lasting difference, we need to build on this work, with long-term investment and support that allows nature recovery to happen at the scale and pace needed.
The Welsh Government has committed to reversing nature's decline by 2030. Its upcoming budget will be an important opportunity to turn that commitment into action.
That means investing in nature restoration, supporting farmers and land managers to deliver for wildlife alongside sustainable food production, and ensuring nature is at the heart of decisions affecting Wales' future.
Because investing in nature isn't simply about protecting wildlife. It's about investing in healthier communities, a more resilient environment and a better future for generations to come.
We know that people across Wales care deeply about nature. In a 2025 survey commissioned by RSPB Cymru, 78% of respondents said they wanted to see more nature thriving in their local green spaces, while 76% believed governments needed to take greater action to tackle nature loss.
Now is your chance to make sure your Member of the Senedd (MS) hears that message too.
We're asking people across Wales to send a virtual postcard to their MS, sharing why nature matters to them and calling for greater investment in its future.
Whether it's the birds visiting your garden, a favourite woodland walk or the wildlife along our coastline, your voice can help show decision-makers just how much nature means to us.
Pick your postcard. Share your support. Speak up for nature.
