Inner Clyde
DumbartonOpenSee opening timesWaders and wildfowl await at this tranquil stretch of the Clyde estuary – look out for Redshank and Curlew snacking on the flats at low tide.
About
This stretch of the Clyde estuary is transformed by the tides twice a day, shifting from underwater to above ground. It’s a quiet reserve, except in the winter when vast flocks of wildfowl and waders gather, often creating a noisy spectacle. The exposed flats that appear at low tide are the ideal place for Redshank, Curlew and Oystercatchers to search for a meal.
This is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) that is open to the public. Please be aware that the Inner Clyde has no visitor facilities provided by RSPB and the site cannot accommodate large numbers of visitors.
