50 Years of the Bailies of Bennachie

The Bailies of Bennachie have been a voice of this iconic Aberdeenshire hill range for 50 years. The charity is concerned with the landscape and wildlife, maintaining paths, collecting litter and investigating and promoting the history and culture of the area.

Community power to understand the Forth’s marine mammals

The Forth Marine Mammals group is an online platform developed by the community that encourages visitors and locals alike to share their sightings of marine mammals (whales, dolphins, porpoise and seals) within the Firth of Forth. The page has demonstrated the fantastic array of marine species utilising this waterway.

Conserving Cairnhill Woods

Over the past 15 years, the Cairnhill Woods Group, supported by East Dunbartonshire Council has transformed Cairnhill Woods from a neglected, inaccessible green space, overrun with rhododendron into a much-loved community woodland, rich in wildlife.

History in the Making - Langholm's Community Buy-Out

The community of Langholm made headlines across the world with its powerful story of hope following its historic land buy outs. A huge fundraising campaign spearheaded by a small community raised £6m in 2 years to bring 10,500 acres into community ownership to create the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve.

Ponds for Puddocks

Puddocks for Ponds is a multi-stranded project involving volunteers and schools in improving ponds for wetland wildlife, creating habitat connectivity for pollinators, providing safe exit routes for wildlife from gullypots - and working with a wide variety of conservation and planning partners.

Tackling the Nature and Climate Emergencies in Yorkhill

Yorkhill Green Spaces are a community group working with volunteers and school groups to protect and improve urban green spaces for wildlife and the community in an area of Glasgow where few people have their own garden. Their volunteer tasks focus on improving biodiversity, climate resilience and sustainability.
