Memorial donations

A gift In Memory to the RSPB will help protect birds and wildlife in the UK and abroad, whilst continuing the memory of your loved one - forever.

What your gift means

Nature, a lasting tribute.

There are many ways to remember someone special, and each one is unique. But, for those who loved birds and nature all their lives, wouldn't it be wonderful to pay tribute to them by continuing to support the things they cared about?

We have been saving wild birds, wildlife and special places for more than 120 years.

Our 200 plus reserves are some of the best places to see wildlife in the UK. We work to save threatened species at home and overseas, from house sparrows and skylarks to white-tailed eagles and albatrosses. As a charity, we depend on donations to be able to carry out this vital work.

Giving your gift in memory of a loved one can be a source of comfort , to know that when they’re gone, the birds they cared about will be protected in their name.

Tree of Life Memorial Garden

Set amongst an accessible area of woodland a magnificent carved owl sits under the branches of a mature oak tree.

This forms the 'Tree of Life memorial garden', located on The Lodge nature reserve at our UK Headquarters.

It provides a tranquil place for supporters to come along and remember their loved ones. The garden is particularly beautiful in spring, when bluebells show themselves in and around the garden, which is surrounded by a simple fence woven from birch.

The owl is adorned with bespoke ‘Lime leaf’ shaped plaques. Each plaque, having been carefully engraved with a short personalised message*, creates a lasting and special tribute to a loved one. Whilst the minimum £300 donation helps to fund our ever important work- to give nature a home.

*due to the engraving process, personalised messages are limited to 5 lines of text with a maximum of 20 characters per line.

We understand that writing a fitting tribute can be a difficult task, especially at what may be a very distressing time for our supporters. However, if you would like a special tribute for your loved one added to the owl, or for more information, please contact a member of our team who are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

We will provide you with a ‘Tree of Life response form’ for you to complete at your leisure and to return (along with your donation) to The In memoriam Team at: The RSPB, The Lodge, Sandy, Bedfordshire, SG19 2DL.
